Samantha A. Telesford’s Climate Literacy and Community Outreach Project, through the Youth IRIE Small Grants Project funded by SOLORICON and the Caribbean Climate Justice Project, has made strides in empowering youth and farmers with climate knowledge and sustainable practices. ⚡🌾

🎯 Key Objectives:
Boost climate literacy among youth aged 12-35.
Engage communities in eco-friendly practices through partnerships.
Promote sustainable behaviors in schools and daily life.
Support farmers and elderly individuals impacted by climate change.

📚 Activities & Impact:
1️⃣ Farmers Initiative: Educated farmers on climate resilience and renewable energy while providing tools for their work.
2️⃣ Climate Literacy Seminar: Engaged high school students in Grenada on the causes and solutions for climate change.
3️⃣ Clean-Up Walk: Collaborated with local organizations to raise awareness about renewable energy while promoting environmental care.
4️⃣ Green Innovation Competition: Students developed innovative energy models, with awards set for January 2025.

💡 Achievements & Challenges: Despite some delays, the project has sparked a strong interest in climate solutions, and participants are eager to continue learning. Future efforts will focus on improved collaboration and scheduling.

Dennison Brown’s Community Agricultural Project (CAP), funded by the Youth IRIE Small Grants Program, has made significant strides in promoting food security, organic farming, and community engagement across multiple communities in Trinidad.

🎯 Project Goals:

Establish a community vegetable garden to provide fresh, affordable produce.
Educate residents on organic and sustainable farming techniques.
Foster intergenerational learning and collaboration in agriculture.
📍 Key Achievements:
✅ Training Workshops on sustainable farming, recyclability, and economic benefits.
✅ Seedling Nursery Expansion – increasing capacity to 18,816 seedlings, supplying local farmers.
✅ Community Engagement Events – Sports Day, Divali Light Up, and upcoming Christmas Treat & Hamper Giveaways.
✅ Agriculture & Education Drives planned for 2025 to further economic growth and sustainability.

🌱 Impact:
👨‍🌾 190+ community members engaged across multiple areas, from Dow Village to Point Fortin.
🍀 Farmers received 26,000 seedlings for increased food production.
♻️ 352 plastic bottles recycled for plant propagation & 100kg of organic waste composted.

🚀 Challenges & Solutions:
Despite pest management issues and irrigation setbacks, adaptive solutions like bio-friendly pesticides and alternative watering methods ensured the project’s success.

This initiative is transforming agriculture in Trinidad, paving the way for food sovereignty & sustainable farming! 🌿
